Archstone Consultancy is owned and operated by Roel Markvoort. My expertise lies in Green Star, and as a Green Star Accredited Professional, I have successfully guided numerous commercial, industrial, and retail developments to achieve Green Star certification.
I also provide energy modelling services for a range of Green Star credits, including greenhouse gas emissions, visual comfort, and thermal comfort assessments, as well as compliance services for H1 Energy Efficiency and Designing Quality Learning Spaces. I am an Accredited Energy Modeller with NZGBC, a Green Star Assessor, and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Architectural Engineering from the University of Canterbury, and a Master of Science degree.
I am originally from the Netherlands, passionate about sustainability, and committed to developing environmentally sustainable, high-performing buildings.

Energy modelling
Energy modelling uses advanced simulation software to predict a building’s energy use and thermal comfort. It’s like a virtual test drive for building design.
While the New Zealand Building Code (Clause H1) sets minimum insulation requirements, it does not account for critical factors such as orientation, glazing, shading, or the risk of overheating. As a result, many buildings that comply with the Code may still perform poorly: becoming too hot, too cold, or inefficient in their energy use.
Energy modelling ensures your building is not just code-compliant, but also energy efficient and comfortable. Our standard energy modelling reports are:
Energy report providing insight into energy use and loss patterns, and a building envelope improvement study.
Indoor comfort report that includes an overheating assessment along with a daylight and visual comfort review.

Archstone Constancy's owner and operator Roel Markvoort has extensive expertise as Green Star Accredited Professionals (GSAP), having contributed to a range of commercial, industrial, and retail projects achieving a certification. Roel is a certified Accredited Energy Modeler, and certified Green Star Assessor with NZGBC.
